Transformations: Creativity from the Inside Out

The Walt Disney Family Museum announces a juried exhibition featuring
the dynamic work of artists from three of the Bay Area’s
distinguished programs for artists with disabilities; Abilities United, The Arc San Francisco, and the NIAD Art Center. The exhibition takes as precedent the vision of The Walt Disney Family Museum’s founder Diane Disney Miller who championed arts access as a vital component of the museum’s commitment to community engagement. Moved by a Barney’s window display showcasing Mickey Mouse paintings by artists with disabilities, she purchased a set for the WDFM collection.

The Transformations exhibition showcases the response of the selected artists to the theme of the museum’s concurrent exhibition,
Wish Upon a Star: The Art of Pinocchio. Through the hero’s journey from puppet to boy, this beloved classic explores the boundless
possibilities of a curious mind and courageous spirit. Satellite and online exhibitions at participating centers will showcase additional artwork inspired by a film that stands as one of Walt Disney’s most important contributions to the art of animation.

Our impact this year has changed our community!
